Day 1 | Arrival Medan – Tangkahan

Meet and greet your private guide and driver at Kualanamu International Airport. Transfer to Tangkahan, an ecotourism destination bordering Gunung Leuser National Park. The final 20 kilometers consist of unpaved, bumpy plantation roads where a robust vehicle is essential (4.5 hours). Arrive in the late afternoon, check into your riverside eco-lodge, and spend the evening relaxing to the sounds of the jungle and the nearby river.

Day 2 | Tangkahan Elephant Sanctuary

Dedicate your full day to experiencing the pristine river ecosystems and sustainable conservation initiatives managed by the local community at Ecotourism Tangkahan.

Morning Walk: Cross the iconic suspension bridge to enter the national park. Take a guided "Walk with the Elephants" trek, walking alongside the rescued Sumatran elephants and their mahouts through their natural forest habitat.

Afternoon River Tubing: Embark on a gentle river tubing excursion down the clear Buluh River, stopping to swim under a hidden jungle waterfall and relaxing at a natural geothermal hot spring bubbling up right along the riverbank.

Day 3 | Tangkahan – Bukit Lawang

Bid farewell to Tangkahan and take an adventurous cross-country overland transit to the famous rainforest hub of Bukit Lawang. Drive to Bukit Lawang, the gateway to Gunung Leuser National Park. for .2.5 to 3 hours via a bumpy local dirt road slicing through rural villages and large agricultural areas. 

Arrive in Bukit Lawang by midday and check into your lodge along the rushing Bahorok River. Spend your afternoon walking through the vibrant village, crossing its narrow suspension bridges, and watching the mischievous long-tailed macaques near the jungle border.

Day 4 | Deep Jungle Trekking & Highland Ascent

Half-Day Jungle Trek: Set out early with a local licensed guide into the dense rainforest canopy. River Tubing Return: Conclude your trek with an exhilarating ride back to the village by tubing down the rapids of the Bahorok River.
